Khabat Fadaei, a Kurdish artist from Sanandaj who was previously arrested during the popular resistance in Tehran and later released on bail, was sentenced to six years in prison by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Varamin.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khabat Fadaei, a Kurdish artist living in Tehran, was sentenced to one year in prison by the first branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Varamin, headed by Judge Ashkan Ramesh, on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and to five years on the charge of "membership in a group to distrust the national security."

According to the Consolidation of Sentences Law, the most intensive sentence for this artist is 5 years of imprisonment. It should be noted that the said sentence was officially communicated to him recently.

Also, Khabat Fadaei's mobile phone and personal belongings, including his library, have been confiscated. Hengaw had previously stated in a report that his bank accounts had been frozen by Iranian security agencies.

Khabat Fadaei was kidnapped by government forces in Tehran on Saturday, September 24, 2022. After an interrogation period, he was transferred to Evin prison. Then, this artist was temporarily released from Evin prison on Monday, November 14, 2022, by posting bail until the end of the proceedings.

It should be mentioned that Khabat Fadaei was deprived of the right to access a lawyer and other basic rights of a prisoner during his period of detention in Iranian government institutions and the trial of his case.
