During Newroz celebrations in different cities of Kurdistan, which turned into a scene of anti-government slogans, repressive Iranian government forces opened fire on the people and more than 40 citizens were injured.
According to the reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, late in the evening of Monday, March 20, 2023, and early morning of Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the Iranian government forces in the cities of Mahabad, Bulbalanabad, Dehgolan, Saqqez, and Sanandaj targeted the people who took to the streets while celebrating Newroz. They shot and a total of more than 50 citizens were injured.
According to the videos and photos obtained from Mahabad, early this morning the IRGC and police forces shot at the people who came to the streets and were chanting the slogans "Martyrs do not die" and "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî " and injured more than 30 citizens. Hengaw’s sources reported that most of the victims were children and women.
Also, in the city of Saqqez and especially in the neighborhood of Karimabad, the Iranian government forces opened fire on the people in addition to throwing tear gas at them, and at least 9 people were injured two of whom were women.
In the small town of Bulblan Abad, which is part of Dehgolan city, the Iranian government forces also shot at the people, as a result of which at least 3 people were injured. It is worth mentioning that after the publication of this news, the people of Dehgolan came to the streets and protested the violence of the Iranian government forces by creating barricades and honking their horns, and declared their support for the people of Bulblan Abad (Bulwanawa).
In the city of Sanandaj, the government forces attacked the participants of the Newroz celebration in several neighborhoods and reports indicate that many citizens were injured.
