Young Baloch man Mojtaba Bameri shot dead by security forces in Kahnuj

Mojtaba Bameri, a 23-year-old Baloch man, was shot in the head and killed by security forces during a pursuit on the Kahnuj–Faryab road after Emergency Unit forces punctured his vehicle’s tires. His death brings the number of Baloch individuals killed by government forces’ gunfire since the beginning of 2026 to at least 22.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Bameri, a resident of Pashmuki village in Faryab County, Kerman Province, was killed on Monday, September 7, 2026.

At around noon, Bameri was returning home along the Kahnuj–Faryab road when Emergency Unit forces began pursuing him without legal grounds or prior warning. They used a tire-deflation device to stop his vehicle before opening fire at close range.

Informed sources said a bullet struck Bameri in the head, killing him at the scene.

Military authorities and the local prosecutor’s office have provided no explanation for the pursuit, the use of gunfire, or the actions of the Emergency Unit forces.

Based on figures recorded by the Statistics and Documents Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the 22 Baloch fatalities from government forces’ gunfire documented so far in 2026 include two children.
