Arash Moradi, a Gonabadi Dervish, who was arrested in October of this year and subsequently transferred to Tehran's Evin prison, has been handed an 8-year prison sentence by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Arash Moradi, currently imprisoned in Evin, recently received a sentence of 8 years from Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ali Mazloum.
Under the provisions of the Consolidation Law, a maximum of 3 years of imprisonment would be applicable, derived from his highest sentence of imprisonment.
On December 2 of this year, Arash Moradi underwent a court session during which he was sentenced to 3 years for blasphemy, 2 years each for insulting the leader and founder of the Islamic Republic, and disturbing the public order, and an additional year for propagandizing against the regime.
Arash Moradi, a Gonabadi Dervish residing in Kashan, was apprehended by security forces at his workplace in the city on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Subsequently, he was transferred to Ward 4 of Evin Prison in Tehran. Earlier reports from Hengaw highlighted the confiscation of his personal belongings, including a laptop and mobile phone, by security agents.
It's worth noting that Arash Moradi had previously been arrested in 2017 during the "Golestan Seventh" events and received a one-year prison sentence. He was eventually released from Tehran prison after completing his full sentence.
