Seven Kurds arrested by security forces in Piranshahr

Seven Kurds from Piranshahr, identified as Fardin Mahmoudi, Nemat Ahmadnejad, Murad Ostovar, Mohammad Sohrabi, Hiwa Shojaei, Anwar Ebrahimi, and Jegir Mojahedi, have been arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Among them, Hiwa Shojaei and Mohammad Sohrabi were previously detained during the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Monday, January 20, 2025, Jegir Mojahedi, 25, from the village of “Aloutan” in Sardasht and a resident of Piranshahr; Nemat Ahmadnejad, 37, from the village of “Lak-Ban”; Murad Ostovar, 45, from “Paseveh”; Anwar Ebrahimi, 37, from the village of “Koneh Lajan”; Hiwa Shojaei, 34; Fardin Mahmoudi, 30; and Mohammad Sohrabi, all residents of Piranshahr, were arrested by the Intelligence Department forces.
Fardin Mahmoudi, a civil and environmental activist, along with Hiwa Shojaei and Mohammad Sohrabi, both detained during the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, were arrested at their workplaces, with their homes searched shortly after. The others were arrested at their residences.
Mohammad Sohrabi and Hiwa Shojaei had previously been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to 16 months of imprisonment and one year of exile each.
Despite persistent inquiries by the families of the detainees, no information regarding their fate or condition has been made available.
So far, no details are available about the reasons for their arrests, the charges against them, their current location, or their situation.
