Ten teachers and union activists in Gilan province have been sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison, along with additional penalties, by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report from the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the individuals affected are Taimur Bagheri, Tahmasab Sohrabi, Gholamreza Akbarzadeh Baghban, Ali Nehali, Mohammad Javad Saeedi, Jahanbakhsh Lajordi, Yadullah Baharstani, Anoush Adeli, Mahmoud Sediqipour, and Aziz Qasimzadeh.

The Rasht Revolutionary Court's third branch handed down sentences of two years and one day of imprisonment to each of them. In addition to their prison terms, they were each given a two-year prohibition from membership in political and social organizations.

The accusations against these individuals stem from their involvement in trade unions, which authorities claim disrupted public order and defied police orders. The trial took place on February 12th of this year.

Notably, Anoush Adeli, Mahmoud Sedighipour, and Aziz Ghasemzadeh had previously been sentenced to one year in prison by the same court branch. Following confirmation of the verdict by the Court of Appeal, they are currently serving their sentences in Lakan prison in Rasht.
