"Honor Killing" Claims Another Woman's Life in Iran

In a tragic incident, a young woman from Ahvaz in Khuzestan province, Iran, was brutally murdered by her own brothers in the name of so-called "honor." The perpetrators fled the crime scene following the heinous act.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at 1 am on Sunday, April 7, 2024, a 27-year-old woman in the city of Ahvaz was fatally stabbed multiple times by her own brothers, citing "honor" as justification.
As reported by "Rokna," a state-affiliated media outlet, the victim's brothers carried out the murder in front of her husband, who was also physically assaulted when he attempted to intervene before the perpetrators fled the scene.
Based on statistics documented by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 50 cases of femicide have been recorded in various cities of Iran since the beginning of 2024 (within 100 days), with 10 of these cases, equivalent to 20%, being classified as "honor" killings.
