Two Kurdish Men in Coma After Being Fired Upon by Iranian Authorities

Parwiz Amin Mohammadi and Bahman Mohseni, two Kurdish men from Takab, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) Province, were indiscriminately targeted by Iranian government forces while on the street. Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds to the head and are currently in a coma.

According to a report received by the Hengaw organization for human rights, during the early hours of Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Iranian police night patrols in the city of Takab opened fire on a vehicle (a Pride model) at the “Pen Circle” in the city center, striking both occupants in the head and causing severe injuries that have left them comatose.

Sources close to the incident in Takab have confirmed that Parwiz Amin Mohammadi, aged 29, sustained a head injury from a bullet that remains lodged in his skull, rendering him comatose at a hospital in Takab.

The other passenger, Bahman Mohseni, aged 35, was shot in the head, with the bullet exiting through his mouth. He is currently in a coma at Khomaini Hospital in Urmia.
