Morality Police of Iran Detains Ayda Shakarami, Sister of Slain Protester Nika Shakarami

The Morality Police in Tehran arrested Ayda Shakarami, sister of Nika Shakarami, who died under torture during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Ayda Shakarami, a member of “Grieving Families,” was arrested in Tehran by the Morality Police for not adhering to the mandatory hijab law.
Ayda Shakarami’s mother, Nasrin Shakarami, announced on her Instagram page that her daughter has been detained since yesterday and has not been released.
Sixteen year old Nika Shakarami, a native of Lorestan and a resident of Tehran, died under torture after being detained by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. Her body was handed over to her family after nine days.
