Hengaw – Saturday, June 28, 2025
Behnaz Mahjoubi, the sister of Behnam Mahjoubi — a Gonabadi dervish who died in the prison — has been arrested by security forces in Kerman and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, plainclothes agents detained Behnaz Mahjoubi at her workplace in Kerman without presenting an arrest warrant.
Batoul Hosseini, her mother, confirmed Behnaz’s arrest in a video published by the Dadban advocacy group, stating that the family has no information regarding her whereabouts or the reasons for her detention. She also highlighted her daughter’s heart condition and held the Ministry of Intelligence, the IRGC Intelligence Organization, and the Kerman judiciary responsible for any harm to her health.
Behnaz’s brother, Behnam Mahjoubi, was arrested following the crackdown on the Golestan Haftom protests in 2018 and died in February 2021 in prison after months of imprisonment and psychological pressure.
No further information has been released regarding the reasons for Behnaz Mahjoubi’s arrest, her place of detention, or any charges brought against her.
