Christian Convert Sentenced to Five Years of Incarceration by Iranian Judiciary

Esmail Narimanpour, a Christian convert residing in Dezful, Khuzestan province, and a member of the "Liberation Message Church," has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization Human Rights, on May 28, 2024, 38-year-old Esmail Narimanpour was tried by the 3rd Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz on charges of "acting against national security through association with Zionist Christian organizations" and was sentenced to five years of incarceration.

According to Mohabbat News Agency, security forces in Dezful arrested Narimanpour in December 2023, searched his private residence, and confiscated several personal items. In May 2023, he was temporarily released from Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz on bail of 700 million tomans pending the completion of his legal proceedings.

Furthermore, in April 2021, Narimanpour, along with a group of other Christian converts in Dezful, was arrested. These individuals were released after undergoing ideological interrogations and making a commitment to relinquish Christian beliefs and activities.
