Christian Convert Yasin Mousavi Sentnced to Fifteen Years in Prison by Iranian Judiciary

Yasin Mousavi, a Christian convert residing in Izeh, a town in Khuzestan Province, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is among those arrested during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Yasin Mousavi was recently sentenced by Branch 3 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Fathinia, to a total of 15 years in prison on charges including "membership in groups or associations aimed at disrupting security" and "propaganda against the government through promoting Christianity."

According to Mohabat News, Yasin Mousavi was arrested on December 22, 2023, along with a group of Christian converts by intelligence forces in Izeh and transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz after 20 days.

He was ultimately released on bail from Sheiban Prison on April 30 , 2024, temporarily until the end of judicial proceedings.

Yasin Mousavi was previously arrested in November 2022, during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement by security forces in Izeh and was released on bail shortly after. He has also faced judicial sentences due to his activities before this arrest.
