Cinema and Theatre Activist Sentenced to 8 months of Imprisonment by Iranian Judiciary

Mustafa Dehghani, also known as Bardia, a researcher, theater and cinema set designer residing in Bandar Abbas, has been sentenced to eight months of imprisonment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on June 22, 2024, Mustafa Dehghani Tal-Gerdooyi, a 37-year-old theater and cinema designer living in Bandar Abbas, was sentenced to eight months of imprisonment by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of this city on charges of "propaganda against the government," with the previous days of detention counted towards his sentence. This verdict was announced to Mustafa Dehghani in person.

Dehghani was summoned by the Third Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Bandar Abbas on October 7, 2023. After two days of detention he was released on bail from the Bandar Abbas detention center on October 9 of the same year.
