In Sanandaj, a woman named Nermin Pirhaman was tragically killed by her husband, who claimed "honor" as the justification for the act. The crime was committed using cold weapons in a particularly brutal manner.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, June 23, 2024, Nermin Pirhaman, a mother of two from the village of Chamso in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, was fatally stabbed by her husband, Heshmat Kalaei, outside the divorce office in the city. She was attacked with 20 stab wounds between Madar Square and Sirous Street.

Hengaw has learned that Nermin Pirhaman had left her husband's home several months prior. On the day of the incident, her husband lured her to the scene under the pretense of agreeing to the divorce. Once there, he fatally attacked her with multiple stab wounds in public.

Iranian state media reported the arrest of the perpetrator and, as in many femicide cases, cited "family disputes" as the motive for the crime.
