Once again, Iran ranks near the bottom of the Global Gender Gap Index in 2024

According to the 2024 annual report of the Global Gender Gap Index, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ranked 143rd out of 146 countries. This places Iran 14th out of 15 countries in the Middle East.

The report highlights specific indicators related to the gender gap in Iran:
- Women's participation and economic opportunities: 144th out of 146 countries.
- Access to education: 102nd out of 146 countries.
- Health and survival: 116th out of 146 countries.
- Political power: 143rd out of 146 countries.

The Global Gender Gap Index annually evaluates the state and progress of gender equality in four key dimensions: economic participation and opportunities, access to education, health and survival, and political empowerment. Since its establishment in 2006, it has been the oldest index tracking the reduction of the gender gap across different countries.
