Hengaw – Friday, August 21, 2026

Latifeh Mohammadzadeh, a 40-year-old woman from Saqqez, was killed by her husband after years of domestic violence and repeated death threats. She had previously filed a complaint against him and had been assaulted and threatened with death by him outside a court just two days before she was killed.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohammadzadeh, who worked as a taxi driver, was killed on August 20, 2026, by her husband, Omid Feyzi, who stabbed her multiple times.

Hengaw has learned that Feyzi, from the village of Gol Tappeh in Saqqez County, had a history of severe violence and had previously attempted to kill his infant child.

Mohammadzadeh worked as a taxi driver to support herself and her child. Her body was discovered near the village of Qaranaw, about 20 kilometers from Saqqez, and transferred for forensic examination. Her family was subsequently informed by forensic authorities that she had sustained more than 20 stab wounds.

Mohammadzadeh had endured years of physical abuse and repeated death threats from her husband, and a complaint she had filed against him remained before the judiciary.

Just two days before the killing, Feyzi severely assaulted Mohammadzadeh outside a court in Saqqez and openly threatened to kill her. He was subsequently sentenced to prison for violence against her, but killed Mohammadzadeh one day after the conviction.

Mohammadzadeh was Feyzi’s second wife, and the two lived in the same household as his first wife.
