Kurdish Environmental Activist, Saman Mirzaei, Arrested by Iranian Security Forces in Sanandaj

Saman Mirzaei, a Kurdish environmental activist from the village of Serhavieh, in the Kalatarzan district of Sanandaj, was arrested by the Iranian security forces.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at approximately 5:00 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, Saman Mirzaei, aged 35, was arrested at his parents' residence in the village of Sarhovieh, Sanandaj, by Iranian Intelligence forces without the presentation of any judicial warrant.

An informed source close to Saman Mirzaei’s family reported that following his arrest by Iranian Intelligence forces, who arrived in five vehicles and surrounded the house, he was taken to an undisclosed location. His family remains unaware of his condition.

To date, no detailed information has been provided regarding the reasons for the arrest or the charges brought against this Kurdish activist.
