Sanandaj: Kurdish environmental activist Jalal Khodamoradi arrested by IRGC Intelligence Forces

Jalal Khodamoradi, a civil and environmental activist from Sanandaj (Sine), has been arrested by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at 2:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, IRGC intelligence agents raided Khodamoradi’s private residence in the Hasanabad neighborhood of Sanandaj, arrested him without presenting a court warrant, and transferred him to an unknown location. He is a known member of the Hasanabad Mountaineering Group.
A source close to the Khodamoradi family told Hengaw that the arrest was carried out with excessive violence, including physical assault. Agents also confiscated his mobile phone and several camera memory cards.
It is worth noting that Jalal Khodamoradi has previously been arrested twice—once on Friday, March 22, 2024, and again in March 2018—for participating in Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan.
No official information has been released regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his current location and condition.
