Marivan: Kurdish activist, Karo Alidad arrested by Security Forces

Karo Alidad, a Kurdish civil and environmental activist from Marivan, was arrested on Wednesday during widespread strikes in Kurdistan, which were held in protest against the execution sentences of Pakhshan Azizi and Varisheh Moradi. His current fate remains unknown.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 21-year-old Karo Alidad was violently arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department after they raided his workplace.

An informed source stated that the Intelligence forces arrested Karo Alidad near his workplace, located in Molavi shopping center in Marivan, without presenting any legal warrant, and subsequently transferred him to an undisclosed location.

It is worth noting that the Intelligence forces had previously arrested Karo Alidad in January 2021.
