Femicide in Iran: Woman, Victim of Child Marriage, Killed by Her Son in Fars Province

A woman named Sumeyeh (Hamideh) Abdoli was tragically killed by her son in Fasa city, Fars province, reportedly due to "family disputes." Sumeyeh was a victim of child marriage.
According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024. Sumeyeh (Hamideh) Abdoli, a 43-year-old mother of three who was married at the age of 13, was killed by her 27-year-old son, Ibrahim Abdoli, in Fasa city.
Sources from Hengaw indicate that, after committing the murder, Ibrahim Abdoli took his own life. The motive behind this tragic act has been attributed to "family disputes."
Sumeyeh Abdoli was forced into marriage at the age of 13 and became a mother at 16.
