Somayeh Razaghi killed by former husband in Babol

Somayeh Razaghi, a 39-year-old woman from Babol, was killed by her former husband in the city. Iranian state media attributed the motive for the killing to what they described as “family disputes.”

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Razaghi was strangled by her former husband on August 5, 2026. She died from her injuries two days later, on August 7.

The suspect, identified as Saeed Shekarchian, fled the scene following the attack and was arrested several hours later.

Sources familiar with the case said Razaghi had separated from her husband several months earlier. On the day of the attack, she went to the shop where he worked to collect documents. According to the sources, Shekarchian then lowered the shop’s shutter and strangled her with his hands.
