Man kills wife Huriyeh Dadashpour and young daughter in Qaemshahr
Hengaw – Monday, August 17, 2026
A man in Qaemshahr, Mazandaran Province, killed his wife, Huriyeh Dadashpour, and their young daughter, Selin Afraei. State-affiliated media cited “family disputes” as the motive.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the man suffocated Dadashpour and Afraei at their home in Serajkola, Qaemshahr, on Friday, August 14, 2026.
He then staged the scene to make their deaths appear to have resulted from a gas leak. After the bodies were discovered, authorities detained him over inconsistencies in his statements and suspicious circumstances at the scene.
The state-affiliated Mehr News Agency reported that the suspect confessed to killing his wife and daughter while they were asleep, first obstructing his wife’s airway and then his daughter’s.
