Death Sentences of Two Prisoners Carried Out in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj

The death sentences of two prisoners named Mohammad Karamizadeh and Esmail Javadi were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison. These prisoners, who were involved in separate cases, had been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Monday, August 19, 2024, the death sentences of two prisoners named Mohammad Karamizadeh, 38 years old, from Kuhdasht, and Esmail Javadi, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
Mohammad Karamizadeh, whose death sentence for drug-related charges had been overturned, murdered his wife during a conjugal visit in prison and was sentenced to death on charges of "premeditated murder." He had been sentenced to death in 2014 on drug-related charges, but his sentence was overturned in 2019 and converted to 30 years in prison.
Additionally, Esmail Javadi had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder with an honor-related pretext and was subsequently sentenced to death.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced in state media, particularly those affiliated with the Iranian judiciary.
