25-year-old man publicly executed in Damghan, Semnan Province

A prisoner was publicly executed in the city of Damghan, Semnan Province. The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed by state media, had previously been sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary on charges of premeditated murder.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution was carried out before noon on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, when a 25-year-old man was hanged in public in Damghan.

State-affiliated media, including Mizan News Agency, reported that the prisoner had killed a child during a family gathering. He had also attempted to kill nine other guests by drugging his relatives with sleeping pills and releasing gas into the home. In connection with the attempted murders, he had received an additional 12-year prison sentence.

The defendant was arrested by police forces on January 15, 2025, and subsequently transferred to prison.
