Elham Ostadi, a Baloch Woman Activist, Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Elham Ostadi, a Baloch woman activist who was detained for two weeks last summer in Chabahar by security forces, has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment by the Iranian judiciary.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Elham Ostadi, a 30-year-old Baloch woman activist from Iranshahr, was sentenced to one year in prison by Branch 2 of the Zahedan Revolutionary Court on the charge of "propaganda against the government."
Informed sources stated that Elham Ostadi was violently arrested by Iranian security forces in Chabahar on August 22, 2023, and was temporarily released on bail of 200 million tomans after 12 days, on September 2 of the same year.
Her arrest was carried out following a post on Instagram concerning an assault by Colonel Ebrahim Kuchakzai, the Chabahar police chief.
