Iran Carries Out the Death Sentence of an Afghan Prisoner at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad

The death sentence of an Afghan prisoner named Nesar Ahmad Rahmati, who had previously been sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on drug-related charges, was carried out at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad without notifying his family.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Monday, September 30, 2024, the death sentence of Nesar Ahmad Rahmati was carried out at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

This prisoner was arrested five years ago in Mashhad on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

It is noteworthy that Nesar Ahmad Rahmati was transferred to solitary confinement yesterday in preparation for the execution, which was carried out without his family being informed and without a final visit with his relatives.

As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the Iranian Islamic state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
