Hataw Akrami, a Kurdish resident of Takab and a member of the justice-seeking families living in Bukan, has been sentenced to eight months in prison by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, the Intelligence Department has disagreed with the decision and referred the case to the Revolutionary Court of Urmia for further review.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hataw Akrami, a 42-year-old resident of Bukan, was recently sentenced to eight months in prison by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court in Bukan on charges of "collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the government." This sentence was later converted to a fine.

A source close to Akrami's family revealed that the Bukan Intelligence Department, disagreeing with the verdict issued by the Criminal Court, has referred her case to the Revolutionary Court of Urmia for reassessment.

Hataw Akrami, a cousin of Mehran Akrami, who was killed during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, was violently arrested on May 30, 2024, during a raid by Urmia Intelligence Department forces on her family home in the village of Yengijeh in Bukan.

After spending 25 days in detention, she was released from Urmia Intelligence Detention Center on July 24, 2024, after posting a bond of 6 billion tomans.
