Death Sentence of Prisoner Carried Out in Isfahan Prison, Iran

The execution of Mahmoud Ataei, a prisoner previously sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder,” has been carried out in Isfahan Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mahmoud Ataei, 53, a resident of Isfahan, was executed at dawn on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Isfahan Central Prison.

Ataei was arrested five years ago on charges of premeditated murder and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of this report, state media outlets, particularly those close to the judiciary, have not yet officially announced the execution.
