IRGC member and Jash Salar Rangamiz killed in armed attack in Sanandaj

Salar Rangamiz, an IRGC member and Jash, was killed in an armed attack by unidentified individuals in Sanandaj. An organization known as Khori Hiwa (Sun of Hope) has claimed responsibility for the killing.

Jash is a Kurdish term used to refer to local individuals who collaborate with Iranian state forces, particularly security and military forces.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rangamiz, a resident of Sanandaj (Sine), was targeted and killed outside his home on Mardokh Street on the morning of Saturday, August 8, 2026.

In an official statement, Khori Hiwa said the attack was carried out in cooperation with a group of its affiliates in Sanandaj.

The organization accused Rangamiz of "direct involvement in the repression, arrest, and torture of protesters during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement," "cooperating with security agencies in the organized distribution of narcotics," and "harassing residents."

Iranian state media and security agencies have not publicly commented on the killing.
