One Iranian army soldier killed, another seriously wounded in armed clash near Marivan

An armed clash near the border village of Sianav in Marivan County resulted in the death of one Iranian army soldier and left another seriously wounded.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, fighters from a Kurdish opposition party engaged in a clash with Iranian forces near an army base in Sianav village, Marivan County, at around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

The soldier killed in the clash has been identified as Abolfazl Goudarzi. Another army member was seriously wounded and transferred to a medical center in Marivan for treatment.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the clash, information obtained by Hengaw from its sources indicates that the fighters involved were members of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK). According to Hengaw's information, PJAK sustained no casualties.

Meanwhile, in an official statement, the Iranian Army's 328th Marivan Brigade said the border base had been targeted with loitering munitions and RPG fire.
