Death Sentence of 11 prisoners carried out in Iran

The death sentences of six prisoners convicted of “premeditated murder” and five others convicted of drug-related offenses were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison and the Central Prison of Karaj. Four of these prisoners were Kurds and Balochs. The execution of one female prisoner has been temporarily halted.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Kamran Saqaei from Khorramabad, Ahmad Narouei (33), and Mohammad Eshaqzehi (31) from Zahedan, along with Kurdish prisoners Saeed Safaei and Sattar Khosravi from Harsin, Kermanshah province, were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison for drug-related offenses. Additionally, Arman Hedayati, Mehdi Zarei, and Mohammad Sadeghnia were executed for premeditated murder.
Simultaneously, three other prisoners—Majid Afrooz (52), Mohammad Mashmoul (40), and Ebrahim Sediq (45)—who had been convicted of murder, were executed in Karaj Central Prison.
Hengaw has learned that the execution of a female prisoner, Zahra Yahyazadeh, who had been transferred from Qarchak Varamin Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison for execution, has been temporarily halted. She has since been returned to Qarchak Varamin Prison.
News had been published regarding the execution of two Afghan nationals; however, Hengaw’s follow-up revealed that no Afghan prisoners were executed on this day, as their executions had occurred a week earlier and had already been reported.
