Iran: Death sentence of police officer carried out in Kerman Central Prison

The death sentence of Ammar Asiyan, a law enforcement officer convicted of the “premeditated murder" of a woman was carried out in Kerman Central Prison.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Sunday, October 13, 2024, Ammar Asiyan, a first-class police officer from the village of Targak in Dehdasht, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, was executed in Kerman Central Prison.
Sources reported that in October 2022, Asiyan shot and killed a woman named Somayeh Mahmoudinejad with eight gunshots in Qaleh Ganj, Kerman Province, after she rejected his demands. The murder occurred in front of her eight-year-old child. Two months prior, Asiyan had threatened to kill her if she refused his requests.
The court’s sentence, issued by Kerman Military Court, included one year of imprisonment, payment of blood money, and the cost of the noose for his execution. During his detention, Asiyan had been held in the military wing of Shahab Prison in Kerman.
As of the time of this report, the execution has not been announced by government-affiliated media, particularly those linked to the judiciary.
