A Baloch prisoner named Noorali Kohkan died in Zabol Prison due to a lack of adequate medical attention.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, 40-year-old Noorali Kohkan, from Nimruz County, Sistan and Balouchistan province, passed away in Zabol Prison after experiencing serious health complications that went untreated by prison authorities.

Rasad Balochistan news outlet reported that Kohkan had been suffering from heart problems and difficulty breathing. Despite his deteriorating condition, the prison’s health staff ignored his symptoms, only offering him painkillers instead of providing the necessary medical treatment.

The family was notified of Noorali’s worsening condition through a phone call from another prisoner. When they arrived at the prison, they were informed that Noorali had passed away and that his body was in the morgue.

In response, Noorali Kohkan’s family has filed a complaint against the authorities of Zabol Prison, demanding answers regarding his death. However, they have not yet been granted access to his body.

Noorali Kohkan had been serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted of participating in a kidnapping. He had been in prison for two years prior to his death.
