Azhdar Piri, Kurdish editor of the International Journal of Nations Research, in Karaj arrested

Azhdar Piri, a Kurdish researcher from Urmia and editor of the International Journal of Nations Research, was arrested by security forces of Islamic Republic of Iran in Karaj, Alborz Province, in late October. His detention order has since been extended.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, October 21, 2024, agents from the Ministry of Intelligence raided the home of 36-year-old researcher Azhdar Piri in Karaj, arresting him and confiscating electronic devices, including his mobile phone and laptop.
A source close to Piri’s family indicated that, over the past two weeks, Piri has been allowed only one brief phone call with his family. Recently, his detention was extended by another 20 days.
As of this report, there is no clear information on his whereabouts, the reasons for his arrest, or the charges against him. His family has not been permitted to visit him, and they remain in the dark regarding his condition and whereabouts.
