Kurdish media activist Abed Alizadeh arrested in Takab, whereabouts unknown

Abed Alizadeh, a Kurdish media activist from Takab, has been arrested by Iranian security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Alizadeh was arrested by security forces in Takab on the evening of August 19, 2026, without the presentation of a warrant.
Alizadeh has been active on social media, where he has posted in support of the public and those killed during the January 2026 protests, as well as on Kurdish culture and language and other social issues.
No information is available regarding the reason for his arrest, or the charges against him. Efforts by Alizadeh’s family to obtain information about his condition and whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
