Atefeh Rangriz, women’s rights activist, sentenced to and additional two years in prison in a separate case

Atefeh Rangriz, a women’s rights activist from Damghan, who is currently serving her sentence in Shahrud Central Prison, has been sentenced to two years of imprisonment by Islamic Republic of Iran judiciary. She had previously been sentenced to 2 years, 7 months, and 16 days in one case, and 7 years and 7 months in another.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Atefeh Rangriz was recently sentenced to two years in prison for "spreading falsehoods" by Branch 102 of the Second Criminal Court of Damghan.
Her attorney, Hossein Taj, announced in a statement that Branch 102 of the Second Criminal Court of Damghan had convicted Ms. Rangriz to two years of imprisonment for the charge of "spreading falsehoods."
Earlier this month, the Revolutionary Court of Damghan had sentenced Atefeh Rangriz to seven years in prison for "establishing a Telegram group (Gagu translation)" and seven months in prison for "propaganda against the state," along with a two-year ban on online activities. Her request for an extension of medical leave to undergo a CT angiogram was denied.
On November 6, 2024, Rangriz was granted medical leave due to her deteriorating health. She had been arrested on June 29, 2024, and transferred to Shahrud Central Prison.
Hossein Taj, her attorney, noted that "while the court refused to extend Atefeh Rangriz's medical leave for her CT angiogram, the Revolutionary Court of Damghan has issued its verdict."
Previously, on September 10, 2023, Atefeh Rangriz had been arrested in Damghan by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. Initially detained in a facility in Semnan, she was later transferred to Shahrud Central Prison and eventually released on bail on October 20, 2023.
It is noteworthy that in a previous case, she had been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Damghan to 2 years, 7 months, and 16 days for "collaboration and membership in anti-state groups" and an additional 7 months and 16 days for "propaganda against the state."
