Man kills wife and 11-year-old son in Maku, citing ‘Honor’ as motive

A man in the Bazargan district of Maku murdered his wife, Safa Mostafazadeh, and 11-year-old son, Danial Alizadeh. The perpetrator, who later attempted suicide, killed his wife under the pretext of so-called "honor."

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, a man identified as Yaser Alizadeh murdered his 31-year-old wife, Safa Mostafazadeh, and their 11-year-old son, Danial Alizadeh, in Maku.

Hengaw has learned that Safa Mostafazadeh had recently filed for divorce, which led her husband to kill her.

State media outlets have made no mention of the killer's motive for also murdering his child after killing his wife.
