Security forces arrest Kurdish civil and environmental activist Fardin Mahmoudi in Piranshahr

The arrest of Fardin Mahmoudi, a civil and environmental activist from Piranshahr, brings the number of individuals arrested by security forces in the city to at least three.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, January 20, 2025, Fardin Mahmoudi, a 30-year-old activist, was arrested by the Intelligence Department forces.

Sources confirm that Mahmoudi’s arrest occurred during a raid by Intelligence forces at his workplace, during which intimidation tactics were used. Following his detention, the forces proceeded to raid his home, conducting a thorough search and confiscating his books.

This development follows the recent arrests of two other Piranshahr residents, Murad Ostovar and Ne’mat Ahmadnejad, who were detained by security forces.

As of now, no details have been released regarding the reasons for these arrests, the charges against them, their current locations, or their conditions.
