Kurdish man Binyamin Rahimpour arrested by security forces in Sanandaj
Hengaw: Tuesday, January 21, 2025
Binyamin Rahimpour, a 33-year-old Kurdish man from Sanandaj, was violently arrested by the Islamic Republic of Iran's security forces and transferred to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in the city.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Binyamin Rahimpour, originally from the village of Avihang and a resident of Sanandaj, was arrested at his workplace during a raid by security forces. The arrest occurred without the presentation of any judicial warrant, and he was subsequently taken to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj.
Sources familiar with the situation reported that 12 IRGC intelligence agents searched Rahimpour's home after detaining him, seizing the camera from his shop. They also intimidated and disrespected his family, drawing weapons on them and creating an atmosphere of fear.
It is worth mentioning that Binyamin Rahimpour had previously been detained on May 3, 2020, along with his brother, Tariq Rahimpour, during a raid by security forces on their family home. The arrest was based on accusations of "collaborating with a Kurdish opposition party to the Iranian government."
Despite the family's efforts to obtain information about Rahimpour's fate and current condition, they have so far been unsuccessful.
As of the time of this report, no precise information is available regarding the reasons for the detention, the charges against him, his location, or his fate.
