Ilam: Kurdish environmental activist sentenced to imprisonment

Arman Shadivand, an environmental activist from Darreh Shahr, a district of Ilam province, has been sentenced by the Islamic Republic of Iran judiciary to 24 months of discretionary imprisonment.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Arman Shadivand, a resident of Darreh Shahr, was recently sentenced by Branch 2 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court, presided over by Dariush Piri, to 8 months in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and 16 months for "insulting Khamenei."
The charges against Arman Shadivand in this case were referred to both the Revolutionary Court and the Criminal Court.
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, Arman Shadivand was summoned and arrested following a notice from Branch 2 of the Interrogation Office of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Darreh Shahr.
After spending one day in detention, the environmental activist was temporarily released from Darreh Shahr Central Prison on bail pending the completion of legal proceedings.
