Kurdish Civil Activist Hekmat Amiri Sentenced to 42 Months in Prison by Iranian Judiciary

Hekmat Amiri, a Kurdish civil and environmental activist from Dehgolan, Kurdistan (Sanandaj) Province, has been sentenced to a total of 42 months in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in recent days, Hekmat Amiri, a civil and environmental activist and a prominent figure in drug-addiction prevention and treatment from Dehgolan, was sentenced to 42 months in prison by Branch 1 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in this city, presided over by Judge Rostami Ahmar.
Informed source stated that, he was sentenced to 6 months of mandatory imprisonment and 36 months of suspended imprisonment, totaling 42 months, on charges of "collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties" and "propaganda against the government." This sentence was officially announced to him on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
It is worth noting that the hearing to address the charges against this environmental activist was held in this court in April, 2024.
