Iran’s IRGC intelligence forces have arrested Amirhossein Gowhari and Bakhshan Alimohammadi, two protesting students from the University of Tehran, during a student demonstration against the killing of a fellow student. They were subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Friday, February 14, 2025, Amirhossein Gowhari and Bakhshan Alimohammadi were violently arrested by IRGC intelligence forces within the university premises. The number of detained students could potentially rise.

Additionally, as reported by Amir Kabir Newsletter, another student suffered a nasal fracture due to a severe blow from security forces during the protest.

The student demonstration was held in response to the killing of a student named Amir Mohammad Khaleqi Darmian, an undergraduate business management student at the University of Tehran. He was murdered on the night of Wednesday, February 12, while returning to the university dormitory.

So far, Iranian state institutions and media outlets have uniformly attributed the student's murder to "motorcycle-riding muggers."
