Baha’i adherent in Qazvin arrested to serve prison sentence

Behnam Momtazi, a Baha’i adherent, was arrested and transferred to Choubindar Prison in Qazvin after responding to a summons and appearing at the Sentence Enforcement Office to serve his two-year and one-day prison sentence.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, February 17, 2025, Behnam Momtazi, a Baha’i resident of Qazvin, was arrested and transferred to Choubindar Prison to serve his two-year and one-day sentence.
The Iranian judiciary had sentenced him to two years and one day of discretionary imprisonment and a fine of 50 million tomans, a verdict that was upheld by the Court of Appeals.
He was previously arrested by security forces on July 31, 2022, and was released on bail on August 11, 2022.
