Two prisoners, including an Afghan national, executed in Isfahan Central Prison

With the identification of two more executed prisoners—Heydar Babaei, a Lor prisoner, and Burhan Wasim-Zehi, an Afghan national—the total number of executions at Isfahan Central Prison has risen to six.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, February 17, 2025, the death sentences of Heydar Babaei, a 40-year-old from Dorud in Lorestan province, and Burhan Wasim-Zehi, a 32-year-old from Fayzabad, Afghanistan, were carried out in Isfahan Central Prison.
These two prisoners were arrested three years ago in separate cases and sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran for drug-related charges.
Hengaw had previously reported the execution of four other prisoners named Ezzat Hosseini Douraki, 49, from Fooladshahr; Ali Eshaqi, 39, from Zarrinshahr; Mohammad Shamseddin Arbab, 40, from Kashan; and Majid Baloch, 34, from Kerman.
These four prisoners had also been sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
To date, the execution of these six prisoners had not been announced by state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
