Iran executes Akbar Sheikhmiri convicted on drug-related charges at Khorramabad prison

Iranian authorities executed Akbar Sheikhmiri, a 41-year-old Lor man from Aligudarz, at Khorramabad Central Prison, also known as Parsilon Prison.
He was convicted on drug-related charges.
According to information obtained by Hengaw, the execution was carried out at dawn on July 17, 2026, at Khorramabad Central Prison.
Sheikhmiri had been transferred to solitary confinement on July 14 alongside Mehdi Shahrisvand and Alireza Barani in preparation for the execution.
Sources familiar with the case said Sheikhmiri was arrested about five years ago on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.
Iranian state media and judicial authorities had not publicly announced the execution.
