17-year-old Kurdish kolbar injured at the Nowsud border

Heja Shiri, a 17-year-old child kolbar from Salas -e Babajani, was injured by direct gunfire from Iranian border guards while carrying goods at the Nowsud border. Over the past year, nine child kolbars have been injured at this border.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Heja Shiri, a 17-year-old kolbar from Salas -e Babajani, was wounded by direct fire from Iranian border guards while working at the Nowsud border in Kermanshah province.

A knowledgeable source stated that the child kolbar was shot in the lower back.

Based on recorded statistics from Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, at least one child kolbar was killed and 18 others were injured in 2024, with half of these cases—nine incidents—occurring at the Nowsud border.
