Kurdish Student at Tehran University of Art arrested by security forces in Mahabad

Sorush Nurbakhsh, a student and composer from Mahabad, has been arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to an undisclosed location. He is currently enrolled at the Tehran University of Art, where he is pursuing a degree in Classical Guitar Performance.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 25-year-old Sorush Nurbakhsh was summoned to the IRGC Intelligence Office in Mahabad, where he was subsequently arrested.

Over the past two days, his family has made multiple attempts to obtain information regarding his whereabouts and condition, but their efforts have remained unsuccessful.

As of the time of this report, no details have been provided regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.
