Two prisoners executed in Ahvaz and Kerman Prisons

Two prisoners, identified as Babak Hajipour and Yousef Kavarooyi, were executed in prisons located in Ahvaz and Kerman. They had previously been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Babak Hajipour, a 49-year-old Lor from Masjed Soleyman, Khuzestan Province, was executed at dawn on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in Sepidar Prison, Ahvaz.

Additionally, Yousef Kavarooyi was executed at dawn on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Kerman Central Prison.

A source close to Babak Hajipour’s family reported that he had originally been arrested in 1994 following a fight that resulted in murder charges. After four years in prison, he was acquitted, but was later re-convicted and sentenced to death in absentia. Hajipour was re-arrested in 2014 and transferred to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.

Yousef Kavarooyi had been incarcerated for four years following his conviction for premeditated murder and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

As of the publication of this report, these executions have not been announced by state-affiliated media, particularly those associated with the judiciary.
