Three prisoners executed in Borujerd and Semnan Prisons

The death sentences of three prisoners, Hatam Shahpasandi, Morteza Kazemzadeh, and Mohammadreza Basiri, who had been convicted on charges related to “drug offenses” and “premeditated murder,” were carried out in the central prisons of Borujerd and Semnan.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Monday, March 17, 2025, Hatam Shahpasandi, a 44-year-old Lur prisoner from Dorud, Lorestan Province, was executed in Borujerd Central Prison. He had been arrested five years ago on charges of murdering one of his friends and was sentenced to death.
Additionally, at dawn on Thursday, March 13, 2025, two prisoners, Morteza Kazemzadeh, 30, from Semnan, and Mohammadreza Basiri, 27, from Shahroud, Semnan Province, were executed in Semnan Central Prison.
Morteza Kazemzadeh had been in detention for three years, and Mohammadreza Basiri for four years, both sentenced to death by the judiciary on drug-related charges.
As of the time of this report, no official announcement regarding these executions has been made in state media, particularly in judiciary-affiliated outlets.
