Mahmoud Ostad-Mamzaei and Karim Farokhond executed in Dezful Prison

The death sentences of Mahmoud Ostad-Mamzaei and Karim Farokhond, two Lor prisoners, who had previously been convicted of “armed robbery,” were carried out in Dezful Central Prison in Khuzestan province.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Thursday, May 1, 2025, the death sentences of 31-year-old Karim Farokhond and 35-year-old Mahmoud Ostad-Mamzaei, both from Dezful, were carried out in the city’s central prison.
The two prisoners had been arrested in a joint case on charges of armed robbery and were ultimately sentenced to death. They were transferred to solitary confinement on Tuesday, ahead of their execution.
On that same Tuesday, a large number of residents of Dezful gathered outside the prison, demanding a halt to the executions. According to Hengaw’s sources, prison authorities opened fire on the protesters during the execution process.
To date, no official announcement regarding the executions has been made by state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
